Billy C Boxing Contest - 24/4/2014

For TBCB's latest entry in the Boxing With Billy C fight predictions contest, we've simmed the fights listed below 100 times each. We've offered a brief summary of each fight based on the simulations, or you can read the entire summary of all the fights (Part1,Part2), which includes a lot of in-depth detail.

  • Wladimir Klitschko vs Alex Leapai: There were no draws on this one. Klitschko dominated. Leapai only managed two wins, one by KO and one by DQ. Klitschko walked away with 98 wins. 92 of these wins came inside the distance. The Hammerhand was in evidence, with 184 knockdowns to Leapi's 13.
  • Keith Thurman vs Julio Diaz: This match-up nearly ended as a draw. Diaz edged Thurman by one bout, 47 to 46, the slimmest of margins. Inside the distance wins went Thurman's way, 25 to 16. Diaz copped 10 more of the dukes by decision, 31 to 21. Thurman showed more pop with 78 knockdowns compared to 56. This match was a coin flip.
  • Lucas Matthysse vs John Molina: Matthysse walked away with this one, topping Molina 79 times. Molina netted only 13 victories. 33 of Matthysse's wins came by stoppage. His 115 to 27 advantage in knockdowns demonstrated his superiority. 44 of Matthysse's 46 decision wins were unanimous. He was the overwhelming victor.
  • Omar Figueroa vs Jerry Belmontes: This was another lop-sided affair. Figueroa won 79 to 15. 42 of his wins were stoppages. With 9 wins inside the distance Belmontes demonstrated the proverbial puncher's chance. This is a slim puncher's chance, though since he could only score 15 knockdown compared to Figueroa's 137.
  • Jose Zepeda vs Rob Frankel: Zepeda topped Frankel 88 to 9. Frankel appeared to be just an opponent. Zepeda came away with 34 wins inside the distance and 54 decisions. 44 of these decisions were unanimous. Frankel managed to score only 5 knockdowns while Zepeda had 96. This was a laugher for Zepeda.
  • Guillermo Jones vs Denis Lebedev: The road proved unkind to Jones. Lebedev got the nod 61 to 35. 37 of these came via decision. He had 10 more inside the distance wins with 24. The spread on knockdowns was 55 to 71 in favor of Lebedev. 31 of Lebedev's 37 decisions were awarded unanimously. In contrast 16 of the 20 decisions awarded to Jones were unanimous.
  • Richard Abril vs Eduard Troyanovsky: Troyanovsky topped Abril in a tight match-up, 50 to 44. His edge came mainly through wins inside the distancewhere he had an 11 to 6 advantage. He only earned one additional decision win, 39 to 38. Abril managed only 9 knockdowns compared to 46. Troyanovsky edge in power was the deciding factor here.
  • Lucas Browne vs Eric Martel Bahoeli: Browne's power netted him an 85 to 10 margin of victory. His split on decisions and wins inside the distance was 55 to 30. He had an overwhelming edge in knockdowns scored, 125 to 7. The only thing equal in this match was fouls. Each fighter had 55.
  • Efrain Esquivias vs Ruben Tamayo: Tamayo topped Esquivias by a near two to one margin, 60 to 34. Esquivias netted 14 stoppage wins, topping Tamayo's total by five. Tamayo's margin of victory came on the scorecards. He notched 51 decisions. With 40, his unanimous victories doubled the the number of decisions earned by Esquivias. the breakdown on knockdowns went 58 to 49 in favor of Tamayo.
  • Daniyar Hanyk vs Giovani Santillan: This meeting of prospects went in favor of Santillan, 49 to 38. Each fighter scored a dozen inside the distance wins despite Santillan's edge in knockdowns, 58 to 31. Although this power edge did not translate into an edge in stoppages, it helped Santillan gain the nod in decisions 37 to 26.
  • Juan Antonio Lopez JR vs Isaac Torres: Torres came out on top 54 to 39. This 15 bout edge came onthe basis of five additional stoppages (17 to 12) and 10 additional decisions (37 to 27). Torres was well ahead in knockdowns, 57 to 21. Torres also had an edge in unanmous decisions. He was awarded 27 compared to the 16 earned by Lopez.
  • Juan Francisco Estrada vs Richie Mepranum: The results of this match were 84-10-6 in favor of Estrada. 43 of his 84 wins came via stoppage. Four of Mepranum's ten wins came via TKO. apart from that, nearl yeverything went Estrada's way. He notched 140 knockdowns while tasting the canvas only six times himself. This was a cakewalk.
  • Hernan Marquez vs John Mark Apolinario: Marquez walked away with an 86 to 11 edge in victories. Marquez was awarded 57 decisions. 49 of these were unanimous. He notched 27 wins inside the distance. 20 of these were via TKO. Marquez's power was the real difference here. His 170 to 15 advantage in knockdowns was the telling factor. Apolinario's defense and boxing skills were not enough to withstand them.
