Billy C Boxing Contest - 6/2/2014

For TBCB's latest entry in the Boxing With Billy C fight predictions contest, we've simmed the fights listed below 100 times each. We've offered a brief summary of each fight based on the simulations, or you can read the entire summary of all the fights, which includes a lot of in-depth detail.

  • Miguel Beltran Jr. vs. Carlos Diaz Ramirez: Beltran won’t have any problems dispatching his opponent, given his 61 wins out of 100 simulated fights. With a 10.48 average number of rounds per win and 41 victories coming via decision (33 unanimous), though, he will likely need to go the distance. Ramirez’s 35 wins were nearly evenly split between 19 decisions (12 unanimous) and 16 stoppages (4 KOs, 12 TKOs) - his stoppages happened in an average of 6.75 rounds each, compared to 7.35 rounds for Beltran’s 20 stoppages (9 KOs, 11 TKOs), so if Ramirez pulls off an upset, look for a TKO about halfway throughout he fight. Six of his TKOs were due to cuts, so that would be his likely route to victory.
  • Kamil Laszczyk vs. Daniel Diaz: This fight is one of the closest we’ve ever seen: Laszczyk won 48 fights to Diaz’s 47 victories, with five draws. Laszczyk was our pick purely because he won one fight more than Diaz did during the sims, but a look at the breakdown of the numbers shows that Diaz probably has a better chance at coming away with the win: His wins were nearly split between 24 decisions (16 unanimous) and 23 stoppages (11 KOs, 12 TKOs), and he scored 61 knockdowns compared to Laszczyk’s 22 knockdowns. Laszczyk, in contrast, had 34 decisions (21 unanimous) compared to 14 stoppages (3 KOs, 11 TKOs) and his average rounds per win were 10.73 compared to Diaz’s 9.47. His average rounds per stoppage win were 7.86 versus 6.87 for Diaz. All of that data shows us that Diaz has a good shot at winning with a middle-round stoppage.
  • Julio Ceja vs. Saul Juarez: Ceja won 59 fights, with 35 decisions (27 unanimous) and 24 stoppages (11 KOs, 13 TKOs). He also scored 65 knockdowns compared to 35 for Juarez, so he shouldn’t have a problem coming away with a victory here.
  • Janiel Rivera vs. Adrian Hernandez: Hernandez is the overwhelming favorite here, with 83 simulated wins out of 100 fights, but since 46 of them came by decision (41 unanimous), look for him to go the distance here. If it ends early, it will probably be a TKO, since he had 20 of those compared to 17 KOs for a total of 37 stoppage wins.
  • Roberto Garcia vs. Norberto Gonzalez: Garcia won just six more simulated fights than Hernandez did, for a total of 89 victories out of 100 bouts, but an astounding 75 of them came via stoppage, with 26 KOs and 49 TKOs, so look for this one to end early. His average rounds per stoppage win were 5.21, and he scored 134 total knockdowns compared to just 15 for Gonzalez.
