Billy C Boxing Contest - 31/1/2014

For TBCB's latest entry in the Boxing With Billy C fight predictions contest, we've simmed the fights listed below 100 times each. We've offered a brief summary of each fight based on the simulations, or you can read the entire summary of all the fights, which includes a lot of in-depth detail.

  • Elvir Muriqi vs. Blake Caparello: Caparello will win, but Muriqi won’t make it easy. While Caparello won 55 of the simulated fights — 38 decisions (24 unanimous) and 17 stoppages (2 KOs, 15 TKOs) — Muriqi managed 57 knockdowns, compared to 32 for Caparello, during the 100 total bouts. Caparello could find himself on the ropes a few times during this one.
  • Lee Selby vs. Rendall Munroe: Munroe should have no problem winning, thanks to his 71 simulated victories, but with an average of 10.87 rounds per win and 52 decisions (40 unanimous) compared to just 19 stoppages (4 KOs, 15 TKOs), he will have to go the distance. Neither boxer scored a lot of knockdowns during the 100 sims: Munroe edged out Selby in that category, 29-21.
  • Don Mouton vs. Gilberto Ramirez Sanchez: We have yet to see a boxer win all 100 simulated fights, but Sanchez was one of the closest yet, with 96 wins out of 100. The question here is whether he wins with a KO or a TKO, since 62 of his victories came by stoppage (25 KOs, 37 TKOs). He also overpowered Mouton with 142 knockdowns, compared to just 22 for his opponent. Interestingly, all of Mouton’s 3 wins came by stoppage, with an average of 5.67 rounds per win, compared to an 8.75 average for Sanchez, so if the underdog has a shot in this one, it could come in the form of an early sneak attack that takes the favorite by surprise. Yes, we don’t expect that to happen either.
  • Gennady Golovkin vs. Osumanu Adama: Golovkin’s opponent may have a cool sci-fi surname, but that won’t help him here: Golovkin will win easily, thanks to his 93 simulated victories. He won 37 times by decision, all of them unanimous, and 56 times via stoppage (23 KOs, 33 TKOs), for an average of just 9.08 rounds per win. And while Mouton overpowered his opponent with knockdowns, Golovkin was even more dominant, scoring an incredible 182-11 in that category.
  • Jorge Diaz vs. Luis Rosa: Rosa will win, given his 73 victories, but look for this one to go the distance, since 45 of the wins were by decision (38 unanimous). Of his 28 wins by stoppage, 10 were KOs and 18 were TKOs. Rosa had the clear edge in knockdowns, 52-22.
