Billy C Boxing Contest - 6/12/2013

For TBCB's latest entry in the Boxing With Billy C fight predictions contest, we've simmed the fights listed below 100 times each. We've offered a brief summary of each fight based on the simulations, or you can read the entire summary of all the fights, which includes a lot of in-depth detail.

  • Devon Alexander vs. Shawn Porter: With 78 wins out of 100 sims, Alexander won't have much trouble stopping Porter, although he'll likely have to go the distance to do so: He won 56 decisions (49 unanimous). Porter's wins were almost evenly split between decisions and stoppages (11 decisions, 8 unanimous; 9 stoppages, 8 TKOs).
  • Francisco Santana vs. Joachim Alcine: Alcine should dominate Santana, given his 92 wins, 60 by decision (58 unanimous) and 32 by stoppage (13 KOs, 19 TKOs).
  • Rogelio Medina vs. Badou Jack: Jack shouldn't have much difficulty dispatching Medina, since he won 73 of the 100 simulated bouts. Of those wins, 32 were decisions (25 unanimous) and 41 were stoppages (18 KOs, 23 TKOs), so he's more likely to end this one early than force it to go the distance.
  • Mickey Bey Jr. vs. Carlos Cardenas: This one is the closest contest of the week: Bey Jr. secured 49 wins compared to 47 for Cardenas. Their wins were nearly equally split between decisions and stoppages: Bey Jr. had 33 wins by decision (22 unanimous) and 16 stoppages (6 KOs, 10 TKOs), while Cardenas had 32 wins by decision (21 unanimous) and 15 stoppages (5 KOs, 10 TKOs). All of that adds up to a bout that will very likely go the distance and end in a split decision – if it ends early, it will be a TKO, and our results point to a likely TKO because of cuts.
  • Glen Tapia vs. James Kirkland: Kirkland will emerge the victor here, but with 34 of his 70 wins coming by decision (33 unanimous), he will likely have to go the distance to do so. Of his 36 stoppages, 14 were KOs and 22 were TKOs (16 by referee's decision), so if he ends it early, look for a TKO.
  • Darren Barker vs. Felix Sturm: Our second-closest fight of the week saw Sturm winning 49 matches to Barker's 43. Sturm had to await a decision 32 times (20 unanimous), compared to his 17 stoppages (4 KOs, 13 TKOs), so he's expected to win that way.
  • Erislandy Lara vs. Austin Trout: Trout took 58 wins, but 48 times he did so via decision (39 unanimous), so he'll likely need to go the distance.
  • Anthony Dirrell vs, Sakio Bika: Bika should have no problem with Dirrell, given his 83 wins, but the results showed a toss-up between a decision (42 times, 33 unanimous) or a stoppage (41 times, 24 KOs, 17 TKOs).
  • Daniel Diaz vs. Robert Marroquin: Like Bika, Marroquin will handily defeat his opponent, but also like Bika, he's facing a toss-up between decision (41 times, 36 unanimous) and stoppage (42 times (16 KOs, 26 TKOs)).
  • Guillermo Rigondeaux vs. Joseph Agbeko: Rigondeaux will also cruise to a win, with 85 victories, but unlike with our last two fights, he's clearly poised to do so via decision. He won 58 decisions, 53 of them unanimous, compared to 27 stoppages (6 KOs, 21 TKOs).
  • Paulie Malignaggi vs. Zab Judah: Judah should have no problem taking care of his opponent, but look for this one to go the distance: Of his 78 wins, 55 were decisions (51 unanimous). His 23 stoppages were heavily tilted toward TKOs (21) compared to KOs (2).
  • J'Leon Love vs. Lajuan Simon: Love has the slight edge here, with 53 wins compared to Simon's 40 victories. Look for Love to win this one by decision, since he did that 40 times (28 unanimous). If Simon prevails, it will likely be by decision too, since he did that 27 times (15 unanimous).
  • Krzysztof Wlodarczyk vs Giacobbe Fragomeni: Wlodarczyk won't have much difficulty overcoming Fragomeni, given his 74 wins, but he's more likely to do so with a decision, given his 43 victories that arrived that way (32 unanimous). Of his 31 stoppages, 11 were KOs and 20 were TKOs.
